ONI Denim 271-ECRU 12.4oz Organic Cotton Just Right Straight Jeans Ecru
The ONI Denim 271-ECRU is built around an exceptional fabric: a 12.4oz organic cotton selvedge denim that brings together sustainability and texture in equal measure. By growing the cotton without pesticides or fertilizers, water pollution is reduced and reliance on machinery is minimized — significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and resulting in a genuinely sustainable denim.
The color is the natural off-white tone of the cotton itself, achieved without excessive bleaching. The cotton's impurities remain visible as slubs, giving the fabric a simple, rustic texture that will gradually whiten with wear — an evolving character unique to ecru denim.
To create this new ecru fabric, Oishi-san sourced yarns of high-quality organic cotton (Label Grade OCS 100) and woven them at ultra-low tension on a vintage shuttle loom. While standard organic cotton tends to feel stiff, ONI used vintage spinning to produce soft yarn and finish the cloth gently — resulting in a 12oz fabric with a fantastic slubby, neppy, soft texture that is clean, crisp, and classic.
The silhouette is a regular relaxed fit — featuring a high rise with ample room through the waist and thighs, almost wide through the top block, with a subtle taper toward the leg opening. The result is a confident, easy-wearing profile that pairs effortlessly across boots, sneakers, and sandals.
Construction details reflect ONI's quiet obsession with refinement. The jeans feature a button fly with original ONI buttons, original copper punched rivets, hidden rivets on the inside of the back pockets, and a green-lined selvedge specific to ecru denim. The classic leather patch with the signature Oni-yaki embossed design is recreated here as a fabric patch, and the original flasher completes the package with the brand's signature character.
Fit Notes: This model fits slightly larger than usual for ONI. We recommend sizing down one from your usual ONI size. Compared to most global American brands, we also recommend sizing down one or staying true to size. The denim is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch approximately 1 inch, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time.
