Sugar Cane 1940 Super "Denim" Collectibles #50 13.5oz Blue Denim Waist Overalls

Sugar Cane 1940 Super "Denim" Collectibles #50 13.5oz Blue Denim Waist Overalls

The Sugar Cane 1940 Super "Denim" Collectibles #50 is the third release from SCSC (Sugar Cane Super "Denim" Collectibles) — a label founded by Yuichi Fukutomi of Sugar Cane and a team of denim specialists. Launched in 1975, Sugar Cane returns to its roots to mark its 50th anniversary with a new "Made in U.S.A." World War II model — produced in the United States, the birthplace of denim workwear.

The denim itself is produced in Japan, based on 1943 vintage jeans. It is woven from American cotton, faithfully reproducing the rugged texture and uneven yarn characteristic of the era — when spinning technology was still rudimentary. The result is a 13.5oz fabric with deep slubby character and exceptional aging potential.

Sewing is handled entirely at Sugar Cane's U.S. factory. Rather than a direct recreation of a single vintage piece, this 1940s Special Model combines details — patterns, parts, and stitching — drawn from various WWII vintage jeans studied to date, while incorporating original elements.

Particularly noteworthy are the pocket bags. Sugar Cane has reproduced the twill-plaid lining found in vintage jackets produced by ROUGH WEAR under its civilian label "ROUGH-IN" during the 1940s wartime period — using it here for the flannel pockets, a refined detail that quietly nods to the brand's deep archival research.

Fit Notes: For the Sugar Cane Collectibles series, we remain faithful to vintage by stocking only the unwashed, unsanforized (loomstate) version. These jeans will shrink with first wash, so we strongly recommend soaking the jeans in warm water before first wear. Expect approximately 4 cm (1.5") of shrinkage at the waist and 7.5 cm (3") at the inseam after soaking — please refer to the size chart with these figures in mind. Once shrinkage has occurred, this model fits true to size — the tagged size closely matches the actual waist measurement. Compared to most global American brands, sizing is similar, so we recommend taking your usual size. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and factoring in shrinkage to find your perfect fit.
